I don't know how I possibly forgot the best bit of news we had these last few weeks... Mikey has been given a place in Binfield's under 9s Cricket team. He is completely chuffed and starts training next week. Looking forward to his first game in May - I shall post lots of pics!
Being Outnumbered
In April 2011 myself and my husband became outnumbered by the children in this house. As if that was not enough I am also the only female in a house full of males. This blog follows a typical family and all the dramas that go along with having 3 children and my general ramblings about other things I may be thinking of that day!!!

An Update!
Super busy few weeks here so not had time for blogging!
On 2nd April it was Aiden's 1st birthday (and my 25th!)! Can't believe it been a year since he was born already! He's just so grown up now, talks a bit and is starting to walk alone with more confidence. He had a nice meal out with family and close friends and I made his birthday cake (Handy Manny, naturally).
Then a fortnight later it was Mikey's 8th Birthday. We had a disco for all his friends at school and he got loads of cool presents and he went to the Reading vs Nottingham Forest game on the evening where Reading got promoted so he was chuffed as he was there for the promotion party on the pitch!
I made Mikey's birthday cake too. he is mad on Moshi Monsters at the minute so naturally that had to be the cake!
I also got a new Mars tattoo done in honour of VyRT next Friday!! Absolutely killed! Definitely the most painful one of the 5! But i'm already planning the next one so it can't have been THAT bad!
Of course all this busyness means the running has taken a bit of a back seat and boy do the scales show it! Even though I have pretty much stuck to my normal eating habits (apart from the couple of meals out we had for birthdays) I've managed to gain a couple of lbs. Hoping they'll drop back off when I start running again. The crappy weather we've been having hasn't helped much! Every time I consider a run it starts to bucket down... hoping for less rain next week so I can get this first MiCoach plan finished and crack on with the next, more intense, one, cos to be honest this one is a bit boring. The first few weeks were really difficult, I mean I would run a mile and feel like someone had repeatedly punched me in the chest, but after a few weeks of it the laid back/easy pace I was on originally seemed too slow and every time I sped up a little the MiCoach woman would be yelling at me to slow down again. Now I have my iPhone I may have to invest in the HR sensors to go with it. I am hearing bad things about them being very temperamental but it has to be worth a shot I reckon. I shall report back with a review sometime in the future maybe.

Adidas miCoach
So I decided last week that it was time to get back into running again. I purchased some new running trainers (which make it feel like i'm running on a cloud!) and some new running clothes too as all my old stuff was too big. Andy convinced me to try out the Adidas miCoach app on my blackberry and I cannot rate it high enough! It is fantastic! It works by tracking your GPS and working out how fast you are going. You do an assessment test and it sets your speed levels to suit you, it then creates a plan for you (mine is 33 workouts of approx 30mins) and starts you off easy and gets harder as you go through the plan. You can listen to a playlist of music through the phone and the miCoach will interrupt your songs to tell you if you need to speed up or slow down so you are always running at the level you should be. You can sync your workouts to your facebook and twitter page (which I do) and it lets you know how many calories you've burnt off and how far you've ran with each workout. You can also do a free run or indoor exercise (with GPS turned off). Anyone who hasn't got time for the gym (or can't afford it) should definitely give this a go, it's a free app and it is absolutely fab!
The sleeping baby!
So since Aiden turned 7-8 months night times have been a literal nightmare! We went from having a baby that sleeps all night (from 4 weeks old) to having a baby that was having 3 or 4 wake ups a night and sometimes we were all only having around 3 hours in total for the night all broken up. It wasn't due to him not wanting to sleep, or illness. It was all thanks to where we live.
On one side of the house we have an old man, he lives alone and has the weirdest routine going. He goes to bed around 2-3am and bangs about his bathroom (which leads onto Aiden's bedroom) so he always gets woken up. He hoovers at midnight, he was rearranging furniture at 1am last week. On the other side we have a delightful set of neighbours, this mother and teenage son enjoy smoking drugs and having house parties every night, in which we can only imagine from the noise that they must hold head banging against the wall competitions. They blast music and even when there is no party happening they watch tv on surround sound at what I imagine must be full blast as I can tell you exactly which channel or film they have on! They also like to argue a lot (usually outside the front door which is right underneath Aiden's bedroom window).
We also live near shops so have the usual drunk people stumbling out of the Indian restaurant at 1am yelling at each other, the chavs who hang around outside the kebab shop until it closes at midnight and of course there's the pub nearby too... this all adds up to a baby that couldn't get any sleep!
Then we decided to try a white noise machine from http://www.whitenoisemachine.co.uk - we went for the slightly more expensive Marsona model and it is amazing! Sounds a weird concept and no-one was more sceptical than my hubby but even he now admits that it's helped so much! We've gone from a baby that wakes up all the time to a baby that sleeps 12 hours straight every single night! It's amazing! He can even sleep through the noise of the neighbours and shops during the day too which is normally so loud that I can hear it over the TV! If here is anyone out there struggling with a light sleeping baby or noisy neighbours I cannot recommend these machines enough!
On another side note I have to rave about the Lindam clarity digital video baby monitor! We had to replace our broken one over the weekend and it is so brilliant! I love the fact now I can watch my baby sleeping without going in there and disturbing him! I would also not know that he has some very strange sleeping positions without it!

Snow and the lack thereof.
Well this weekends "whiteout" was more of a light dusting really. Lasted about an hour before it started to slush up. Pitiful really. Aiden's first taste (literally at one point!) of snow was definitely not the greatest! However they all seemed to enjoy it anyway!
I also learned something while it was snowy. If you lock the front wheel of a three wheeled buggy it can be pushed in snow without getting stuck. Who knew!? Well not me that for sure. Found it out by pure accident!
Also I went sledging for the first ever time. Yes i'm almost 25 and had never been sledging! It's quite good. I don;t look like i'm enjoying it at all in this photo though ;)

Fireworks cont...
And if I needed any more ammunition to prove that fireworks are stupid and dangerous then here it is! Sky News RIP to the victims of the M5 crash and thinking of the others injured and all the family and friends affected by it.
If it is found that this crash really was caused by the fireworks display and the smoke crossing the motorway then I hope finally someone will make it the law that you need a permit to set them off! Where the place they're being set off from has been deemed to be safe, enough distance from houses and major roads so as to not cause accidents like this!
Anyway here are a list of other firework related incidents... I am sure there are many many more out there too!
Firework incident #1
Baby hit in face with firework!
Man attacked with firework
And then we have the downright idiotic people who mess with fireworks.

Fireworks
I could make this post 3 words long and it would just about sum up my feelings on amateur firework "displays" (Read: Chavs setting of crappy cheap supermarket fireworks in their back garden with no regard for anyone but themselves!)... Anyway my three words are... I HATE THEM!
Now i'm all for proper organised events, we went to see the Scooby Doo fireworks at Legoland this year and they were amazing (they are also miles from any residential houses and they have proper insurance just in case)! But why WHY do you feel the need to spend £20+ to buy some crappy fireworks from Sainsburys where half don't even explode properly and the others are pathetic at best! They drive animals insane and keep baby's and children awake. If Aiden is awake and a random firework goes off he cries, if he is sleeping and a sudden bang happens he wakes to scream for a while, then you get him to drift back off and suddenly.... BANG... there goes another one! The law states fireworks can't be set off after 11pm (except bonfire night which is midnight and new years which is half midnight) yet we have idiots around here doing it at 2am with no consequences because unless someone tries to kill someone or burn something down with a firework the police don't give one!
Idiots + Alcohol + Fireworks could = the burning down of my house or car or anything else I give a shit about!
So this is a public service message to everyone - You would be better off setting fire to a £20 note than buying that shit and to be fair it would be more entertaining and less noisy so everyone would be much happier - especially me!! Then I could move onto my next thing to hate in peace and QUIET!
